Edinburg, TX — The DHR Health Urgent Care locations in McAllen have been certified by the Urgent Care Association of America and are the only certified centers in the Rio Grande Valley.  Certification designation of an urgent care center recognizes an organization has met national standards and criteria. The clinics provide patients with walk-in, extended-hour medical attention with licensed healthcare providers for a large scope of medical conditions. DHR Health’s new urgent care location in Mission is pending certification from the Urgent Care Association of America.

“We are so proud of our team and look forward to continuing to serve our community with the highest level of standards.  This important certification is the first step in our path of distinction.” Marissa Gomez-Martinez, M.D., DHR Health Urgent Care Physician Advisor.

DHR Health Urgent Care offers fast and affordable medical care for non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses, such as the common cold, flu, wounds that may require stitches, allergic reactions and minor burns. Diagnostic testing, physicals, and x-ray imaging are also available.

Urgent care fills the gap between primary care and hospital emergency rooms, offering increased convenience and cost-savings.  On average, DHR Health Urgent Care visits cost five to 10 times less than a visit to the emergency room, including freestanding emergency rooms. While the average cost of a DHR Health Urgent Cost visit is $150, most patients with insurance will only be responsible for their copayment at the time of service.  Since DHR Health is a Veteran’s Administration Authorized Urgent Care Provider, there is no copay for veterans with VA insurance. DHR Health Urgent Care accepts commercial insurance, Veteran’s Administration, Medicare, Medicaid, self-payers and worker compensation plans.

In an evolving healthcare environment it is important for patients to understand their treatment options.  Urgent care is a convenient and viable option for medical conditions that cannot wait for a scheduled appointment with a primary care physician or occur over the weekend.  All DHR Health Urgent Care facilities accept unscheduled, walk-in patients during all hours of operation.  Treatment is provided for adults, adolescents and pediatric patients.

“Our goal is to provide our patients the best possible care.  The recognition that the Urgent Care Association of America has given us is an indication of the hard work that our clinical staff and office team members have accomplished”, states Cruz Alberto Bernal, M.D., Medical Director of DHR Health Urgent Care.
