The Children’s Bereavement Center of the Rio Grande Valley (CBC-RGV) invites the community to its 2nd Annual Light of Love Candlelight Vigil, held in recognition of Children’s Grief Awareness Day. This heartfelt gathering will take place simultaneously at the McAllen and Harlingen locations on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.

This year’s theme, “Light of Love: A Candlelight Vigil for Hope and Healing,” reflects the warmth, remembrance, and unity that guide families through their journeys with grief. The vigil offers a compassionate space for reflection as we honor loved ones and stand in support of grieving children across the Rio Grande Valley.

Event Highlights Include:

  • Participation from local community partners showing their support
  • Light refreshments for attendees

Attendees are welcome to bring a photo of a loved one (optional) for the remembrance table, a symbolic space where families can honor and reflect on those who hold a special place in their hearts.

“As a community, we share the responsibility of ensuring no child feels alone in their grief,” said Bill Reagan, Executive Director of the Children’s Bereavement Center Rio Grande Valley. “The Light of Love vigil is a beautiful reminder that healing grows, when we surround children with understanding, compassion, and hope.”

Guests are also encouraged to wear blue in honor of Children’s Grief Awareness Day. Families, caregivers, professionals, and community members of all ages are welcome.
