MISSION, Texas – Texas GRAMMY® Award-winning country group Shenandoah will be performing Saturday, November 8th, at the 20th Annual Heroes and Outlaws Concert benefiting the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic and presented by VTX 1/VTCI. The ‘The Extra Mile Tour’, which will span 50 cities over the course of 9 months, will have its final performance at the Las Palmas Race Park, Mission, TX.

The Heroes and Outlaws concert has been organized by the non-profit organization Friends For Hope for 20 years to raise funds for the Vannie Cook Children’s Cancer Clinic.

“Reaching the 20th anniversary of Friends for Hope is an incredible milestone. What started as a group of friends coming together to support the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic has grown into a movement that has raised over $3.5 million. This funding has not only provided life-saving treatments for children but has also supported groundbreaking research and clinical trials happening right here in our community. The Vannie Cook Clinic, as part of Texas Children’s Cancer Center, continues to lead in cutting-edge pediatric cancer care, with over 10 clinical trials currently underway.” Stated Rene Alcalá, Board President, adding, “We are proud of how far we’ve come and remain committed to giving hope to the children and families who need it most.”

The organization helps the clinic by hosting fundraising events for the clinic over the year while also providing aid and assistance to the families impacted by childhood cancer.

Victoria Guerra, Director of Philanthropy, shared, “Friends For Hope has been an incredible blessing to the Vannie Cook Clinic and the families we serve. Each board member, past and present, has selflessly given their time and energy, leaving a lasting impact on children in the Rio Grande Valley facing cancer and serious blood disorders. I wish them continued success and heartfelt congratulations as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary.”

Tables and sponsorship opportunities are available at FriendsForHope.com until Friday, October 17th.

In a press release published earlier this month, Shenandoah frontman Marty Raybon stated, “It’s never a bad thing taking the ‘Extra Mile’ and getting to see fans and friends alike across the country. It’s going to be a blast and a great year.”
