Apprentices in Texas Southmost College’s Early Childhood and Phlebotomy Apprenticeship Programs took an important step toward completing their apprenticeships when they received Occupational Skills Awards (OSA) during a ceremony held September 12 at the ITEC Center.

For breast cancer survivor Elvia Gibbs, traveling from McAllen to Washington, D.C., was about more than advocating for legislation. It was an opportunity to tell lawmakers firsthand that cancer research and access to clinical trials can mean more time, hope, and quality of life for patients.

Texas Southmost College student Eleazar Hernandez is blazing a trail as a standout in the college’s Respiratory Care Science program, earning recognition for his work at both the regional and statewide levels for his academic and research achievements.
