With the month of August being “National Minority Donor Awareness Month,” DHR Health will host a community health education seminar to inform the public about kidney transplant medical services offered at the DHR Health Transplant Institute. Members of the community are invited to the presentation, which will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on August 29, 2024, at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance, located at 119 Paseo Del Prado. The event is free and open to the public and will be conducted in English and Spanish.

“The event will be an opportunity for the public to ask all the questions they have ever had about kidney transplant and comprehensive transplant care available at DHR Health,” said Marissa Castaneda, DHR Health Senior Executive Vice President.

The event will be moderated by physicians from the Transplant Institute. Some of the topics they will discuss include the risks and benefits of a transplant, the choice between a deceased or living donor, among other related subjects. Attendees will also hear from former patients about their own transplant experiences.
