DHR Health Advanced Endoscopy Institute is proud to announce the introduction of Endoscopic Gallbladder Drainage to the Rio Grande Valley. The first procedure of its kind was successfully performed on a female patient of advanced age at DHR Health.

Utilizing endoscopic ultrasound guidance, Dr. Juan Sanchez identified and accessed the gallbladder through the stomach, successfully placing a metal stent to alleviate inflammation and pain.

Dr. Sanchez said this minimally invasive technique provides a critical alternative for treating Acute Cholecystitis when the gallbladder becomes inflamed or swollen, particularly for patients who are non-operative candidates.
