EDINBURG, Texas – DHR Health, the largest physician-owned hospital in the United States and a leading healthcare provider in the Rio Grande Valley, is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Juan Torres-Reveron, a highly esteemed neurosurgeon, to our Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Torres-Reveron brings extensive expertise in areas of epilepsy surgery, further enhancing the comprehensive neurological care we offer to our patients.
Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. Torres-Reveron completed his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine and neurosurgery residency at Yale New Haven Medical Center in Connecticut, where he also completed a fellowship in Epilepsy Surgery. With over 17 years of experience in the field, Dr. Torres-Reveron has a distinguished track record of successful surgeries and innovative research. In 2016, utilizing the ROSA robotic system, he was the first U.S. surgeon to perform a spine fusion.

In 2005, he also received his PhD in Neurobiology from the University of Alabama with his dissertation on “Functional Properties of Subplate Neurons.” As a neurosurgeon, Dr. Torres-Reveron is helping future generations of doctors who are interested in going into this specialized area, as he has served as a mentor and teacher at other medical school institutions. He is a member of several professional organizations including: The American Medical Association, American Epilepsy Society, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgery, and the Society for Neuroscience.
Dr. Torres-Reveron is committed to delivering the highest level of complex care for patients suffering from disorders of the brain, nerves, and spine. His expertise includes treating movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor, as well as surgical treatment of intractable epilepsy. Additionally, he specializes in the surgical treatment of pain and spasticity.
Dr. Torres-Reveron is fluent in English and Spanish and is currently accepting new patients at his office located at 5519 Doctor’s Drive in Edinburg at DHR Health’s main medical campus.
