DHR Health is excited to host a free community event aimed at tackling one of the most pervasive health issues affecting our community: headaches and migraines. The community engagement session entitled “Understanding Headaches and Migraines to Improve Quality of Life” will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on February 23, 2024 at the Edinburg Conference Center of Renaissance located at 118 Paseo Del Prado. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will be led by DHR Health’s own Dr. Gloria Simms, a dual board-certified neurologist and headache medicine specialist—the only one in the Rio Grande Valley. Dr. Simms’ board certifications include a subspecialty in headache medicine by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. In her day-to-day practice, Dr. Simms evaluates and treats patients with neurological issues with a special emphasis in headache management. Dr. Simms’ practice focuses on empowering patients through education to optimize their contribution to improving their quality of life in addition to managing their conditions.

At the community session, Dr. Simms will be educating the public about the different types of headaches and migraines, their causes, and management strategies. “My goal for this event is to equip people with the knowledge they need to identify and address headaches and migraines effectively,” said Dr. Simms.
