DHR Health Women’s Hospital Celebrates First Baby Born on New Year’s Day

DHR Health Women’s Hospital celebrated a special delivery with the birth of its first baby of the year.

Alana Itzel arrived at 3:11 a.m., weighing 7 pounds and 2 ounces. Parents Jessica and Hector Delgado couldn’t be happier to welcome their new baby girl into their loving arms.

“We are delighted to celebrate the first baby of 2024,” said Marissa Castañeda, Senior Executive Vice-President of DHR Health. “It’s a special moment for the family and a joyous time for our hospital staff.”

As part of DHR Health’s tradition, the family received a special gift basket filled with baby essentials, celebratory items, and gift card to mark the momentous occasion. 

DHR Health Women’s Hospital, located at 5502 S. McColl Road in Edinburg, offers a broad range of services to support women during prenatal, childbirth, and post-delivery stages. The Women’s Hospital at DHR Health is the only Level IV Maternal Care facility, providing comprehensive care for high-risk maternal and fetal conditions. The hospital is designated as a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), offering advanced technology and a multidisciplinary team to care for premature infants and newborns with critical illnesses. DHR Health Women’s Hospital is also a recognized participant in the Texas 10 Step Program, assisting new mothers and their babies with breastfeeding.
