CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – At Driscoll Children’s Hospital, it’s our job to give our patients the absolute best healthcare possible. Through compassion, care and healing, we get kids back to being kids.

But it takes financial resources to do so, and new, cutting-edge technology can be especially expensive. Driscoll Children’s Hospital, a not-for-profit hospital established 70 years ago according to the will of Clara Driscoll, philanthropist and Savior of the Alamo, depends on the generosity of donors in its mission to serve the children and families of South Texas.

Thanks to attendees and Flint Hills Resources, the presenting sponsor at the 31st annual Fiesta de los Niños, over $1 million was raised to provide thousands of children life-saving care.

Proceeds from the 2023 Fiesta de los Niños will provide a neuro navigation system to be used in cranial and neurological procedures, which facilitates the transformation of complex data to useful information, providing pin-point accuracy and efficacy. This technology allows surgeons to better visualize and plan the work they are doing and to be more efficient and precise during these delicate and complex surgeries.

Neuro navigation technology will enable the surgeons at Driscoll Children’s Hospital to use the very latest technology to produce optimal outcomes for the children of South Texas.

“As the number of children needing help at Driscoll continues to increase, so does the need to stay up to date on medical advances. We are thrilled to support the purchase of state-of-the-art technology that extends the high quality of care given to patients at Driscoll Children’s Hospital,” said Sean Pieri, Vice President, Development & Marketing, Driscoll Children’s Hospital. “This truly keeps Driscoll on the leading edge in pediatric healthcare.”

During the event, there was a special Light up the Night appeal, sponsored by Valero, to provide Angel Eye web camera systems at the new Driscoll Children’s Hospital Neonatal Care Center at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi – South, which opens next month. The Angel Eye camera system allows parents who cannot be physically present to see their newborns by logging into an app anytime from any place to see their babies and allow them to start bonding with their little ones. More than $70,000 was raised during the Light Up the Night appeal.

Led by longtime title sponsor Flint Hills Resources, Fiesta de los Niños is Driscoll’s largest annual fundraising event. Each year, 100 percent of the funds raised directly benefits the hospital and its patients.

“Flint Hills has been incredibly generous in its 31 years of dedicated service to Driscoll and its children. We also are thankful for the many supporters and volunteers who ensure that our doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff help kids get back to being kids,” said Sean.
