The Hidalgo-Starr Counties Medical Society Alliance was founded in 1923 by a group of physician spouses of Hidalgo County, who wanted to help the community and support medicine.

Ninety-three years later, using the same venue of their first meeting, Dr. Jake Margo welcomed everyone to the event. He said “My name is Dr. Javier “Jake” Margo, Jr., I’m the current president of the Hidalgo-Starr County Medical Society.” He continued, “This is the 93rd Anniversary of the very first meeting of our society in this great hotel.” The meeting took place at the Casa de Palmas Hotel on Main Street built in 1918.
