History of the Association

In 2007, a group of doctors and business leaders in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) identified a need for local attention and emphasis on diabetesawareness for its residents. They joined forces to create the Rio Grande Valley Diabetes Association (RGVDA) as an independent local, not-for-profit organization for Hidalgo County, Texas. The association’s services are tailored specifically for the residents of the RGV.

Each year, the RGV Diabetes Association celebrates the “Dancing with the Stars” fundraising gala. This year, the RGVDA will present the gala celebration on Saturday, November 13 at the Mission Event Center in Mission.

They guarantee that all the funds generated by the RGVDA are used for the residents of the RGV. This is the only the second organization of this nature in Texas.
