Earlier today, Governor Greg Abbott approved TMB’s request to temporarily suspend the following regulations:

The temporary waiver will allow Texas hospitals and facilities with graduate medical education (GME) programs the ability to better utilize Physicians-in-Training (PIT) permit holders in other areas of their hospitals and facilities.

The waivers remain in effect until termination by the Office of the Governor or until the Governor’s disaster declaration is lifted or expires. After the termination or expiration of the disaster declaration, practice by the PIT permit holders will return to being limited to the GME training program.
