Governor Abbott announces tighter COVID-related restrictions in a new executive order.

The U.S. State Department closed all passport agencies until further notice effective today, March 19, 2020.

Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez

County Judge Cortez signs similar executive order tightening COVID-related restrictions.

COOP Plans Due Today. As announced Thursday by Chief Ricardo Saldaña, all departmental Continuation of Operation Plans are due to him by the end of business today. 

Hidalgo County Website

Hidalgo County’s COVID update website has been revamped. 

The Public Affairs Department has revamped the COVID-19 update page. Please review the page and familiarize yourself with it in addition to referring staff and the public to go there and use it.

Due to overwhelming communications demand, please send any request for a press release, a countywide communication or an addition to the COVID-19 update website to the following email address: hidalgopao@co.hidalgo.tx.us. Public Affairs Director Carlos Sanchez must approve all requests before the Public Affairs staff can work on a request from other county departments.

Operational Readiness

Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department shifted from a Level 3 Operational Readiness to a Level 2 Operational Readiness of its BIO Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and has expanded its call center to include outside departments to manage increased operations.
