The Texas Medical Board announced that new state legislation passed by the Texas Legislature will require all healthcare practitioners in Texas to verify continuing education compliance through an approved tracking system before renewing their licenses.

According to the board, the requirement is mandated by state law and will take effect for renewals beginning September 1, 2026. To implement the change, the Texas Medical Board has partnered with CE Broker as the official system for tracking continuing education credits.

The board stated that all licensees must establish at least a free basic account with CE Broker and ensure that all completed continuing education is reported within the system. ā€œIf the Texas Medical Board cannot verify CE compliance through CE Broker, you will not be able to complete your license renewal,ā€ the announcement said.

To assist physicians with the transition, the board and CE Broker will host an informational webinar on May 13, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Central Time. The session will provide a step-by-step tutorial on using the platform to track, manage, and report continuing medical education, with an emphasis on maintaining audit-readiness and compliance.

The webinar is limited to 1,000 participants, and registration will remain open until capacity is reached. Additional sessions are expected to be announced through official board communications, including its website, bulletin, and social media channels.

The Texas Medical Board said it recognizes the change as significant and encouraged licensees to create their CE Broker accounts early to become familiar with the system ahead of their renewal deadlines.
